Workshops and In-Services
The Supported Child Development Consultants offer workshops for Early Childhood Educators in the community. Certificates of completion are available for most of our workshops. If you have questions about any of the workshops or have a particular topic that you think would be of benefit for our community, please contact Mary Lynn Leroux, Supported Child Development Coordinator, at (250) 371-400 ext. 202.
Positive Approaches to Behaviour:
This is an 18-hour program that is completed over 6 sessions and focuses on a new way of supporting children with challenging behaviour. It incorporates a strength-based, child and family centred approach to preventing challenging behaviour from occurring and promoting social and emotional development.
Make & Take:
Make and Take workshops are an opportunity to create a circle time activity, network and share experiences with your peers while learning tips for a successful circle.
BeCool is a workshop for children developed to support the development of impulse control, empathy and self-awareness by teaching children how to be assertive (cool) rather than aggressive or passive when challenged by a difficult person (someone who is attempting to intimidate or manipulate them) or a challenging situation.
